For the Broken Girl

Surprise! I’m dropping the last fourteen chapters of For the Broken Girl at once. Today. Right now. You can read it all here at its new sub-site home: For the Broken Girl.

I did this for a couple of reasons.  One, I was already going to switch to a full release in the fall with Book 3 of Mad World, so why not just go with it here?

Two, I think some of the stories read better when you can read them at your own pace, and not just updates stretched out. Broken Girl, in particular, takes place over a few days — I have huge chunks of the story that takes place over a handful of days (Chapter 11-22 are literally one week.) I think you guys lose some of the immediacy when you have to wait a week to read something. Elizabeth not leaving Lucky doesn’t feel like three days, it feels like three weeks. And I think that messes up momentum.

And three, I wanted to really be *done* with Broken Girl here at Crimson Glass. I’ll be posting daily at Archive of Our Own and FF until the story is done there, but I’m ready to focus entirely on my flash fiction and Mad World.

Changes in Flash Fiction Schedule

Instead of tri-weekly updates of For the Broken Girl, I will be updating each of my Flash Fiction series twice. Starting June 15, I will post flash fiction around 10 AM, which allows me to write Mad World in the afternoon and gives me time between each.

Monday & Wednesday: An Everlasting Love

Tuesday & Fridays: Desperate Measures

Thursdays & Saturdays: Whatever It Takes

This will allow me to complete these series faster, which means I can revise and edit more quickly as well.

Your Update Link: For the Broken Girl – Chapter Sixteen

ETA: For the Broken Girl now has its own sub-site. So check it out, let me know what you think and leave some reviews. I want to fix the formatting and style of the reviews, but I can’t until someone leaves a review, LOL

Your Update Link: For the Broken Girl – Chapter Fifteen

Hello! I wanted to drop in quickly and do a bit of a round-up in case you missed anything last week. It was a very busy week here at Crimson Glass as my plans for the facelift got under way. My Flash Fiction project got off to a great start. All three series were posted and will be continued this week. Here’s a quick recap —

  • Wednesday, I posted  An Everlasting Love, Part 1. This was a Patreon series request for a Western historical romance. I’ll be updating this every Tuesday.
  • Thursday, I posted Desperate Measures, Part 1. This was both a Patreon series request and a revisit of a previous idea from last year. This will continued to be updated on Thursdays.
  • Saturday, I posted Whatever It Takes, Part 1. This was a revisit of an idea from last year. I’ll be updating this every Saturday.

The plan with the Flash Fiction series is to work on them until they’re completed. Then, I’ll do edits and revisions to repost them as fully formatted short stories or novellas. Once a series is concluded, I’ll move on to a new series.

I also moved Mad World over to its new home at Crimson Glass. The majority of the work is done, but there’s still some content to be completed and formatting. Once that’s completed, I’ll have my template for other stories. I’ll update For the Broken Girl and Bittersweet next. Mad World and Bittersweet will both get their ebooks once their subsites have been overhauled. Mad World now has a review function that lets you review the story as a whole or just leave a simply rating.

In writing news, I’ve been working on Book 3 for Mad World which finally has a title: Liberty. I’ve been writing all weekend and it’s going really well. You can follow my progress by looking at the sidebar to the right where I update my word count daily. Can’t wait for you guys to read it!

Your Update Link: CG Flash Fiction – Whatever It Takes – Part 1.

Hey! The last of the new flash fiction series is here. This one is another take an idea I think I posted about a year ago but it didn’t feel cohesive enough at the time to go on with. I played with the premise a bit, and I think you’ll be happy with it.

I also wanted to show off a few things at CG I’ve been working on the last few days.

  1. I’m doing a livestream on YouTube tomorrow at 2 PM EST (Sunday, June 7). This is the weekly writing update that I do for my Patreons, but I wanted to open it up to the public this time to show you guys the kind of perks even the $1 Patreons get. You can use this link to come to YouTube and chat with me. Or, if you can’t make it, feel free to ask any questions here and I’ll answer it there. I’ll put up a transcript for anyone who isn’t into views.
  2.  I figured out the Multiple Themes plug in and started moving Mad World oer. The template site is here: Mad World and Book 1 is mostly done. I’ll be working on that off and on throughout the week.

Your Update Link: Desperate Measures – Part 1

I won’t be posting every time I put up a new flash fiction on this new schedule. Once you guys get used to it, maybe in July — you’ll know you can check the site every day except Sunday for new content. I’ll also make sure to keep the Recent Updates page updated.

This is the second of the three series I’m launching this week. It was written in about 21 minutes and was another Patreon request. Flash Fiction page has been updated.

I’ll be back on Saturday with the last of the new series. Broken Girl will be posted tomorrow at 7 AM.

Your Update Link: An Everlasting Love – Part 1

Thanks so much to skatiefan for requesting this series as her Crimson Obsessed Story Request benefit at Patreon. I’ll be updating this every Tuesday. Follow me on Twitter where I’ll post sometime in the evening that I’m starting the 20 minute timer.

I updated the Flash Fiction page as well. I’ll see you guys tomorrow for the first part of Desperate Measures, a Patreon request from Melinda.
