Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 33

Here we are for our regularly scheduled Flash Fiction 🙂 Someone asked yesterday if you were going to get a hint as to the killer’s identity, and you’re actually to learn everything you need to know next week — according to my outline, all will be revealed on Wednesday 😛 But that doesn’t mean the story is over! I have the general outline for the story done, but I’ve been working on breaking the story into individual scenes. I just passed the middle of the story, so we’re in Act 2, Part 2 which is scheduled to conclude on August 26, then we’re in Act 3. I have to finish breaking that down.

As soon as I post this, I’m moving onto finish up the beta draft of Signs of Life — I’m so excited to be crossing this off the list this week. I still have to do a final edit to clean up last minute typos and set up the posting situation, but it’s not going to be taking 1-2 hours every day. I’m making great progress on Fool Me Twice, Book 2. I’m basically rewriting Act 1 which has 16 chapters, and I’ve already written 6 of them.

See you on Monday!

Update: Watch Me Burn – Part 32

Making up for yesterday by posting this morning! I’m glad I took a day to reset and take a break. Sometimes I push myself a little bit too much, and I need to be nicer to myself, lol. I woke up, had my coffee, and dug back into Signs. I’m already almost caught up to where I wanted to be today anyway, so that’s pretty good. And the Phillies are off today, so I can write tonight.

See you tomorrow for another update!

July 26, 2023

Hey! Just dropping in real quick — I woke up with an ache in my jaw that’s making it hard to concentrate on writing for long periods of time, so I had to cut the morning writing session this morning. I’m gonna go pop some more ibuprofen and grab an ice pack, so I can work this afternoon. Honestly, I may have over done it on Monday/Tuesday, lol. I wrote around 5k on Monday for Signs of Life, and over the last two days, I’ve written 42 pages and 16k for the new beta draft of Fool Me Twice. That’s not counting the 2k or so for Monday’s flash fiction.

Anyway, lol, I’m gonna take it easy today, but you know my policy — if I miss a scheduled update, you get a prize. So here’s Chapter 10 of Signs of Life — the revised flash fiction novel I’ll be posting later this month. Chapters 1-8 are already posted, and Chapter 9 is previously released material when it was a Flash Fiction series. Chapter 10 is the first piece of brand new work, so you can get a sneak peek of the type of expansion I’m doing with the novel. Zip file opens a PDF. Let me know what you think 🙂

Update Links: Watch Me Burn – Part 30 | Fool Me Twice

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a good week!

I’ve been working on three editing projects this month: Fool Me Twice, Book 2 – second draft, Signs of Life – second draft, and Fool Me Twice, Book 1 – final edit.  It’s been a bit exhausting and draining — y’all know how I feel about editing. It’s a necessary hell, lol.

I’ve been keeping a small secret from you guys — as I edited Book 1 to clean up typos and inconsistencies (as I said when I started this project, for personal reasons Book 1 never got the second, polish edit), I was updating the chapters online. So if you read here at Crimson Glass, or on Fanfiction.net or Archive of Our Own, you already have the edited chapters! I’ll include a list of changes and updates under the Read More tag if you want specifics, but the biggest change was Chapter 4. I had a Liason flashback scene that was driving me crazy because I had misremembered the show, and so the scene was canonically inaccurate. It was largely rewritten, so I definitely recommend checking it out.

I’m formatting the ebook which will be up on the Patreon next week and for the public on September 1 to prep for the release of Book 2 in October.

For Signs of Life, I’ve completed 32 of 40 chapters for the edit, so I should be finishing that up sometime next week.  And for Book 2, I’m almost done constructing my beta draft (restructuring and figuring out additions and changes) so I start writing it on Monday.

I got more information about the new job, and I’m actually starting back early (boo!) The entire district reports back on Aug 28 for four days of teacher prep and professional development (which is awesome because my last district was 1 day), but as a new hire, I’m actually reporting on Aug 22 and 23 at 8 AM for orientation. This just means I need to shift around one of the last Flash Fictions, no worries. We’ll work it out when we get there.

See you on Monday!

Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 29

Hope everyone is having a good week! July feels like it’s zooming past us which makes me nervous and excited. I’m starting the new job in September, but I haven’t heard anything about how they want the program to look or if they’re providing any resources outside the ones I bring to them. Hopefully I learn more about that before August 28, but I have a huge library of resources and three years of experience, so I feel like I can handle anything they throw at me.

See you guys on Friday!

Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 28

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I took off yesterday afternoon to watch the Phillies, and if you follow me on Twitter, you know it was a particularly harrowing game, lol. (We had 3-hour rain delay, trailed the Padres for a few innings, got the lead, blew the lead, tied the game, and went into extra innings). Absolutely bonkers.

I always plan to take off Saturdays and Sundays during the summer, but I absolutely suck at following through. But at least I took off an entire eight hours yesterday.

Anyway! Lots of work to do this week.  Time for a Monday round up to let you know what’s being worked on this week. Check under the Read More tag.

Fool Me Twice, Book 1: I am working on a final polish edit to clean up some inconsistencies (you guys probably won’t notice, but I do). I finished marking up the book yesterday. I’ll edit 5 chapters a day until Friday, and then the ebook will be up on the weekend for Patreons, and then next month for everyone. Stay tuned for official dates.  Edited chapters are posted as Patreon Perks for Devoted tier & above.

Fool Me Twice, Book 2: The alpha draft is completed! Thanks to everyone who visited the digital shop to check out the extremely messy first draft. Check your Patreon messages for a link to the survey to share your opinions. I’m going to be constructing the beta draft this week — planning out the new material, moving things around, etc. I start writing next week and will have a better idea of the scope of the project then. Alpha Draft available as Patreon perks to Adored tier & above and in the digital shop. Beta draft material will be available to Obsessed tier & above.

Signs of Life: The beta draft is chugging along nicely. I’m finishing Chapters 26-27 today, and there are only 40 chapters in total. On schedule to complete that by the end of the month, and we’re  solid to begin reposting on August 28.  Beta draft chapters being posted for Love tier & Above.

Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 27

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a good week! I finished my alpha draft reread of Fool Me Twice early, so I’ve been looking at my editing notes, my beta’s editing notes, and making some adjustments and plans to make sure things are consistent with Book 1 while setting up Book 3. Lots of work, so glad I have a few extra days to work on it.

Signs of Life is coming along great — I’m through the middle part of the story where I planned to add most of the new material. I’ve added about 13k to the story, including three new chapters and lots of scenes. I’ve also fleshed out some more Liason moments that I’m particularly excited for you guys to check out. That novel comes back on August 28 🙂 There are 40 chapters to edit, and I’ve completed 21!

I did a quick informal poll on Twitter about which time period you guys want the next big flash series to feature, and most people picked the August 2000 return for Jason, which is great. I haven’t written anything for that time period. I have to go back and review the Dead Ted storyline since that seems the best fit for it.  I’m not sure when Watch Me Burn is wrapping up — we’ll be hitting the midpoint of the story next week, and going to weekly updates in the fall again, so we could be looking at sometime in January to wrap it up. I want the next flash series just ready to go.

My Phillies return this weekend with a double header tomorrow, and I’ve got plans with the family to watch the games, so have a great weekend and see you on Monday!

Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 26

Happy Wednesday! I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do Flash Fiction in the morning when I woke up, lol. I was watching the All-Star Game and it didn’t have a pitch clock so the game ended up being until 11:30 (I AM OLD NOW THIS IS VERY LATE). And I couldn’t stop watching because the Phillies closer, Craig Kimbrel, was due to save the game (AND HE DID! NATIONAL LEAGUE WON!). My Phillies boys did us proud, but my voice is sore, lol. While I was watching, I was annotating Book 2’s alpha draft and got on a roll. I was only going to read Chapters 56-66, but I ended finishing all of Act 3, which puts me ahead of schedule. I stayed up to 1 AM which was…probably a poor decision, lol.

But I’m making great progress on all three editing projects — July is super busy, but August should be a bit more laid back — I’m only working on the beta draft of Book 2 and writing Flash Fiction.  I’m really enjoying the editing for Signs of Life because I’m in the part of the book where I’m adding more material — and getting to write old school Liason from 1999-2000 is so refreshing. It can be exhausting to be writing in the later time periods, like 2018, when our couple has so much more baggage. They’re both older, more cynical and jaded, so it can be harder to strike that balance you need between realistic older adults who’ve been making terrible decisions for twenty years but still the sweet, light Liason stuff that we fell in love with. So, yeah, going back in time to 2000 is much more fun.

With the next Flash Fiction (which will be winter probably), I wanna go to this time period again — but more like between August 2000 – December 2001. I don’t have really anything set during this period, so it’ll be fun to expand there. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Update Link: Watch Me Burn – Part 25

Digital Shop: Fool Me Twice, Book 2 – Alpha Draft ($7)

Happy Monday! I hope you guys had a great weekend! I kept busy even though my Phillies decided to tie our franchise record for games won on the road and then immediately embarrass themselves by losing two in a row. It’s All-Star Week, which means I won’t spend about 3 hours every day with my mental health depending on a bunch of guys hitting a ball. I have A LOT of updates  and news for you, so I’m tucking it under the Read More tag Each topic is linked so you can skip around.
