Yes, Sam dies. It’s not a spoiler since it’s in the first five seconds of the story.
And, haha, don’t worry. The Courtney in TBT is minimal. She’s a supporting character, with very few scenes.

Wow…just wow! Loved the video and I can’t wait to read this story. This video seriously makes me miss longing and chemistry Steve and Becky could convey with a simple look or action. I’ll definitely be watching again. Great job. 😀
