Update Link: This is Me Trying – Prologue
Hey! I overslept this morning, and sometimes I wake up with migraines when that happens, so I’m moving Flash Fiction to tomorrow. I try to give you guys something to make up for missing scheduled updates, so I thought you guys might enjoy the prologue of a story I’ve been playing with a bit. I had an idea for a rewrite of Dec 2004/Jan 2005, and I’ve been plotting it in my spare moments. I had a really vivid idea for the prologue, so I wanted to get it on paper while I had it. It reads like the prologue — but it can also be a short story.

Dec 2004/Jan 2005? You know what really pissed me off about that timeframe? The way TIIC used Elizabeth to prop up Sam as a partner for Jason. It was pretty clear that they were getting feedback from fans that they wanted Jason back with Elizabeth, so they gave us a few scenes of Elizabeth supporting Jason as a friend in November 2004. They gave fans hope, then they had Elizabeth encourage both Jason and Sam to be in a relationship with each other. It wasn’t enough that they wouldn’t give us what we wanted, they had to go a step further and USE Elizabeth to promote the couple they wanted everyone to like instead. It was insulting. And to add the cherry on top of the manipulation sundae: After the conversation Elizabeth had with Jason in Kelly’s introducing him to Cameron and encouraging him to be with Sam there were zero Liason scenes for over a year! She served her purpose then back to the back burner. New viewers who started watching the show in 2005 would have had no idea they even knew each other, let alone had such a rich history. The story preview you posted looks like it will be fun but it is more focused on Emily/Nikolas and Cassadine drama than Jason and Elizabeth’s relationship. You know what I would really like? A story set in early 2005 in which Jason CHOOSES Elizabeth over Sam. He was so damn passive that he basically just fell into a relationship with Sam. Why can’t he be the one to put an effort into pursuing Elizabeth for a change?
Hey! Totally understand your concerns about it being a Cassadine story — it’s actually nothing to do with the Cassadines — it’s more about Emily’s plan with Connor Bishop going terribly wrong, and rewriting how that worked. No Sam in this story at all actually. I haven’t written a full synopsis because I’m still working it out in my head.
Kind of have to just say: Ditto to AJ, with the minor exception that I do see plenty of Jason/Elizabeth in this Prologue, not just Cassadines. So many stories I wish you had time to finish telling – you know, NOW, not just someday. Obviously, I have long overestimated patience as one of my virtues.
P.S. I hope you feel better. And, hereby casting my vote for this to be next up in Flash Fiction. (Maybe – what are the other options on the table? No don’t tell me, just go with this.)
I enjoyed the prologue. I remember this time period and realized that we weren’t going to get our couple in any storyline. It looks very interesting.
