On April 19, at midnight, Taylor Swift released The Tortured Poets Department, a collection of sixteen perfect songs. And then, because obviously, she’d learned a Swiftie from Jersey had rashly sworn to write a story for each and every song in her catalog, at 2 am, she dropped The Anthology, fifteen MORE perfect songs.
For this massive album, I’ve organized the songs into collections to make writing and planning a little easier. Unfortunately, real life as a teacher and other writing priorities made it difficult to get this project in the schedule. But this summer, terrified of TS12 (OCTOBER 3 BABY), I got my ass into gear. I’ve finished 3 of 8 stories in my first collection, The Black Dog. And hope to complete it by the release of The Life of a Showgirl, but I still have that pesky real life thing. Blondie, begging you to keep the promise about this one being 12 songs and 12 songs only.
