Update Link: Signs of Life – Part 18
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break! It’s Sunday morning here which means it’s time to prep for the upcoming week. We’ve got about a month until the holiday break starts, and it’s going to be a long stretch for the students and the teachers, LOL. I’m hoping to do a better job of managing my energy in December than I did in November. I came home so tired most of the month, and I definitely don’t want that.
I’m behind on a few IRL projects — not a big deal since I’m in charge of those deadlines, and I’m doing what I can. My computer’s been running pretty sluggish, and honestly, I need to get a new one. I’m putting away money for it, so let’s just hope the laptop sticks it out longer. The hope is, with NaNoWriMo almost over, I’ll be able to reset my priorities. I’m hoping to get together a full status post/video this week. We’ll see how that works out.
Oh — I realize yesterday I haven’t really said anything here on CG about Steve Burton being fired from GH for not being vaccinated. When those rumors first started flying earlier this month, it obviously left me with a bad feeling, and I wanted to wait until the news was official. I think it’s obviously disappointing, but it doesn’t change how I feel about the character of Jason or the pairing of Jason and Elizabeth. It means we may never get another chance for Liason to get the story the deserve, but Jason’s character was actively being damaged by being on the canvas at this point, so it might be a silver lining that we no longer have to see that happening.
I don’t know — while I’ve always been a huge Jason fan, I’ve never been ride or die for Steve the way I have for Becky, so maybe that kind of helps me not really caring about Steve’s actions here. He took a stance and got the consequences he knew he would. It is what it is. He wasn’t like Ingo Rademacher, spreading Covid and vaccine misinformation all over the place and being a general racist transphobe on social media, so I can kind of move on from it. I have people in my own family who are okay with the vaccine for others but don’t want it themselves, and maybe that colors my reaction. It all sucks, and I want to go back to not knowing about the personal beliefs of celebrities. Social media was a mistake, lol.

Thanks for this update. I love this story so much. I feel the same about Steve. I appreciate all who vaccinate to protect those who aren’t eligible yet. I gave up the show probably more than a decade ago but my Liason love runs deep. Happy Holidays. Stay Safe!!!
I agree. It’s going to be a long stretch before Christmas for all teachers and students. I feel for all of you. I think I’ve been more of a fan of Becky because I feel that GH never gave her proper respect as an actress. I love Steve but I was disappointed. I haven’t watched GH since he came back as Patient 6 after being a GH fan for over 30 years. They’ve ruined so many good characters for terrible storylines. But, my heart is all about Liason so as long as there is fanfiction, I’m good. Thank you for always sharing your talent with us.
Show wise I was hoping this split from Sam and the scenes we had with Liason and Jason/Cam scenes would eventually develop into more down the road and the Jarly/Britt stuff was a buffer but yeah. I’m pretty sure that Liason’s ship will never return. So TY for being so dedicated.
RE vaccinations. I get both sides. I got mine because I felt it was the right thing to do for many reasons, but it the second shot was not without its issues and I am still dealing with vertigo because of it (there is no “confirmation that the shot is the issue” but it is way too coincidental to ignore) so I get Steve’s reluctance and fortunately for him, he is in a position that taking a stand is not going to see him scrambling for food on the table etc. I wish him the best of Luck and hope the show goes on long enough that he can come back. I think you care correct that the character has suffered during this run. I’m not open to a recast though. We have Drew and I am liking CM version far better than I anticipated and was actually looking forward to seeing if they would actually give Drew and Jason a relationship.
